CAMPERDOWN Dairy International has been busy at its Melbourne factory ramping up supply of infant formula for the Chinese market.
Since being granted its Chinese infant formula manufacturing and export licence in July this year, the company has been focused on increasing production at its Melbourne-based site before it embarks on its Phase One development at the former Camperdown Cheese and Butter factory site.
Camperdown Powder is one of only eight Australian infant formula manufacturers approved by the Chinese Government.
“We have been extremely busy manufacturing and exporting our first wave of orders for our international customers in recent weeks,” Camperdown Dairy International chief executive officer Phil McFarlane said.
“This will provide us with significant momentum into commencing our construction plans at the Camperdown site, which will include building a larger infant formula blending and canning facility.”
Due to a recent lack of infant formula supply in the Australian market, the company has also been inundated with enquiries for its infant formula here on home soil.
“In the past, due to the barriers of entry into the Australian supermarkets, we have not focused on the Australian market,” Mr McFarlane said.
“But the recent lack of supply may potentially offer opportunities for us to distribute our brands both domestically and internationally.
“We are currently supplying stock of our flagship Camperdown Powder brand to Camperdown IGA and we are more than willing to supply more if required to do so.
“We are excited about what we have achieved to date, but we have so much more ahead of us, particularly in and for the town of Camperdown.”
