Wood takes monthly medal

BILLY Wood showed fine form on the greens last Saturday to take out the monthly medal at the Terang Golf Club.


With a handicap of 17, Wood finished the day with a score of 72 nett (80 gross) to win on countback from runner-up Michael Heffernan (20) 72/92.

Down the line: Jeremy Attrill (15) 73/88, Paul Healey (18) 73/91, Fred Beasley (+2) 74/72, Tim Keane (10) 74/84 and Terry Coolahan (19) 74/93 on countback.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Fred Beasley, 6th Geoffrey Campbell, 8th George Beasley and 11th Phil Beasley.

Putting went to Phil Beasley and Stephen Arundell with 26 putts.

This Saturday will be stableford all day and Sunday will be nine or 18-hole stableford from 10.30am onwards.

The women’s stableford last Thursday attracted 10 players, with Margie Driscoll winning the day with 35 points from runner-up Heather Holmes 29 on countback from Jane Heffernan.

Balls down the line went to Jane Heffernan 29 and Jo Arundell 28.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Margie Driscoll, 11th Marion Venn and ninth from off the green, Marion Venn.

Fourteen players competed in an all-day stableford, which was won by Luke Trebble on 41 points, followed by Caleb Kavanagh on 37.

Balls down the line went to Francois Bosch and David Stewart, both on 35 points.

Nearest the pins: 8th Martin Wynd and 11th Caleb Kavanagh.

Next week the women’s competition will be 9.30am for 10.30am start, with an all-day stableford to be played.
