Wet weather greets Magpies
TOP of the ladder North Warrnambool showed its strength with a 70-point win over Camperdown in round 12 of the Hampden League senior football competition.
After a low scoring first term, the Eagles asserted themselves on the contest to record a 16.10.106 to 5.6.36 win at the Bushfield Recreation Reserve.
Wilba Cheeseman gathered 21 disposals, four marks and three tackles and was named as the Magpies best.
Angus Gordon, Cameron Spence, Joshua Place, Charlie Lucas and Jonty Lafferty rounded out Camperdown’s best, with veteran Fraser Lucas kicking three goals.
Spence led the possession getters with 29, Harry Sumner accumulated 28, Dom Absalom 25, Myles Sinnott with 24 and Josh Place 22 also contributing well.
Tomorrow Camperdown will host fifth placed Warrnambool at the Leura Oval.
The reserves match saw North Warrnambool score a 10.9.69 to 5.9.39 win.
Hugh Gordon, Scott Londregan and Ethan Coates were Camperdown’s best in the loss, with Gordon, Rory Cameron, Jack Hookway, Solly Mahony and Nick Jones kicking a goal each.
North Warrnambool had a huge 138 point win in the under 18s, 22.15.147 to 1.3.9.
Harvey Roberts, Dustin Lane, Charlie Londregan, Rory Cameron, Olver Delaney and Isaac Cootesmith were best for the under 18 Magpies, with Levi Cootesmith kicking the lone goal.
The under 16 football at the Leura Oval on Sunday was a tight contest, North Warrnambool winning 6.5.41 to 5.9.39.
Best in the win for the Magpies were Miller Lockhart, Nate Castle, Joshua Finlayson, Jonty Raven, Archie McDonald and Max Rees, with Darby Sinnott kicking two goals.
The under 14 game saw Camperdown record a 10.10.70 to 1.1.7 win.
Darby Sinnott, Harry Sinnott and Parker Lockhart were best for Camperdown, with Darby Sinnott kicking four goals.
In the under 12 football, Camperdown scored a 4.6.30 to 2.6.18 win.
Best for the junior Magpies were Sailor Hargreaves, Freddie Lillie, Liam Barr, Christopher Cronly and Jack Hillman, with Eddie Gellie, Roy Molan, George Titmus and William Sinnott kicking a goal each.
In the Open netball, North Warrnambool scored a 55-40 victory.
Kiara Love showed her capabilities at the top level, shooting 32 goals and being named as the Magpies best.
Eliza Fleming and Rosie Pickles were also in the best for Camperdown in the loss.
The division one netball also went the way of North Warrnambool who had a 45-27 win.
Charlotte Hinds, Abigail Sinnott and Kiara Love were best for Camperdown, with Isobel Marwood shooting 13 goals and Abigail Sinnott 10.
The division two game saw North Warrnambool score a 30-19 win.
Grace Dawson shot 11 goals in the loss, with Kirby Stonehouse, Hope Kerr and Sarah Spokes best.
North Warrnambool scored a 29-14 victory in division three.
Best for the Magpies were Elle Mahony, Lily Baker and Poppy Kerr, with Lauren Groen shooting nine goals.
North Warrnambool had a tight 28-27 win in the 17 and under netball.
Kiara Love shot 22 goals, and was named in the best alongside Madison Lucas and Maisie Molan.
The 17 and under reserves saw North Warrnambool register a 33-20 win.
Matéa McKenzie, Charli Lee and Grace Fleming were Cobden’s best, with McKenzie shooting 13 goals.
The 15 and under game saw North Warrnambool score a 32-19 win.
Taylor Cameron, Edie Molan and Violet McDowall were best for the Magpies, with Cameron shooting 10 goals.
In the 15 and under reserves netball, North Warrnambool had a 26-24 win.
Best for Camperdown were Scarlett Simmonds, Vogue Fleming and Ruby Johnston, with Johnston shooting 18 goals.
The 13 and under game saw a 31-22 win to North Warrnambool.
Emma Lillie, Essi Myers and Zoe Unwin were Camperdown’s best, with Myers scoring 18 goals.
The 13 and under reserves game ended in a 32-9 win to North Warrnambool.
For the junior Magpies, Pippa Woodmason, Maddison Lyne and Emilia Narik were named as best, with Olivia Simmonds shooting five goals.
