Veteran golfers head to Mortlake
FORTY-five veteran golfers headed to Mortlake to compete in the Corangamite Veterans’ fortnightly competition last Tuesday, June 23.
The veterans golfers welcomed three new members from the Colac and Cobden clubs.
Congratulations to the Mortlake club for providing such a wonderful course that was a pleasure to play on.
Mortlake is a great testing course, which won on the day with no players breaking par.
Results from the day:
A grade – winner Tony Nichols (Camperdown) 35 points, runner-up Peter Palmer (Mortlake) 33, third Tony Marks (Cobden) 32, NAGA Bruce Waterson (Warrnambool) 12.
B grade – winner Chris Egan (Colac) 33, runner-up Neil Smith (East Fram) 32, NAGA Ken Jane (Warrnambool) 18.
The next events will be held on Tuesday, July 9 at Peterborough (please park around the side streets) and Tuesday, July 22 at Winchlsea.
The Corangamite Veterans’ golf days are open to all players over the age of 55 who are registered at a golf club and hold a current Golf Australia handicap.
This is a great opportunity to meet up with players from the region and to play on different courses.
