Vehicle crashes into island

A DRIVER has been assisting police after his vehicle collided with a traffic island embankment in Camperdown last Sunday.

Corangamite Senior Sergeant Bill Caldow said no-one was injured following the incident.

“At around 10pm on Sunday night, a silver Falcon ute travelling north on Leura Street has failed to stop at the intersection of Leura and Manifold Street and careened over the traffic island embankment,” he said.

“All four tires of the car were deflated. There was very minimal damage there.

“Camperdown Police attended, but the driver was no longer present.

“He presented himself at the Camperdown Police Station on Monday morning.

“He has been assisting police with inquiries and will be charged with offences in relation to the matter.”
