Ava and Eden Halloran and their mother Sandy donated their hair to Kids with Cancer for their Wigs 4 Kids campaign.

The campaign allows people to donate cut hair 20cm or more to create wigs for children receiving treatment for cancer.

Wigs 4 Kids also includes a fundraising aspect, with all funds raised going towards Kids with Cancer to help children and families affected the disease.

The family went for their hair cut on January 6 donating a total of 107cm of hair.

Ms Halloran said she and the kids were ecstatic about the haircut, and that Ava and Eden loved it.

“Ava just came up with a nice idea, and she just decided she wanted to donate her hair to kids with cancer because they don’t have hair,” she said.

“She wanted to make wigs for them.

“I thought it was awesome that a kid the age of eight came up with the idea just off her own bat.

“We’re so ecstatic that we’ve been able to raise money and donate hair to a great cause.”

Eden said she wanted to do it with her sister Ava, with Sandy also joining in to make it a family affair.

In addition to the donated hair, the Hallorans have set up a fundraising webpage and a collection point at the Blue Yabby in Lismore to raise money for the cause.

Collections are also happening in Peterborough, with the current total sitting at $335.

Ms Halloran encouraged others to grow out their hair and donate it to the charity.

“The only rules to donate hair is a 20cm minimum length, and it can be dyed, and it can be bleached. It’s just got to be 20cm of hair,” she said.
