Blown away in the first half seven goals to two, Simpson was much more competitive in the second half.

Champion full forward Nick Harding kicked seven of the Tigers’ eight goals in a dominant display, named in the best players alongside captain Ryleigh McVilly and Brock Neal.

In the reserves, Simpson went down 13-13-91 to 7-2-44.

A tough day for the Tigers under 18s, Irrewarra-Beeac winning 31-21-207 to Simpson’s no score.

Vice-captain Bradey Fratantaro was named best for the Tigers.

Simpson had a two point win in the under 15s, preserving a two point three quarter time lead, kicking one goal six in the final term to the Bombers’ two straight goals to scrape through.

Irrewarra-Beeac ran out 64 point winners in the under 12s, 11-14-80 to 2-4-16, with Thomas Vines and Chase McCallum the goal kickers for the junior Tigers.

Simpson’s A grade netballers have lost for the first time in 2025, going down 57-40 against Irrewarra-Beeac on Saturday.

“We knew they were going to be tough,” Simpson coach Emily Duynhoven said of the unbeaten Bombers.

After an even first quarter Irrewarra-Beeac skipped away in the second quarter, scoring 19 goals to Simpson’s nine.

“They got away from us; just some silly errors cost us,” Duynhoven said.

Sophie Taylor was named Simpson’s best.

“Sophie played wing attack to give us a bit more drive and she was very impressive.”

Duynhoven was very happy with the defensive roles played by Chloe Woods and Paige Salmon.

“Chloe had a great game, we gave her the role on (Irrewarra-Beeac key player) Rachel Rodger and she shut her down.

“Paige is always a standout and again took a lot of intercepts.”

The Tigers have some difficult fixtures ahead, but Duynhoven is looking forward to the challenge.

“The next month looks tough but we know what we need to work on.”

Irrewarra-Beeac won the B grade netball 52-23.

Shelby Cameron shot nine goals and Ella Arndell was best player for the Tigers.
