Tough round for South West
THE KFC Festival of Cricket senior men’s competition proved a tough one for South West, defeated in both games.
After losing to Mount Gambier in round one earlier this month, South West faced a determined Warrnambool Moyne representative side at Reid Oval last Sunday.
Warrnambool Moyne won the toss and sent South West in to bat – a decision that pay dividends.
Opener Jamie Dewell (25) and middle order batsman Lachlan Green (35) were the only two to reach double figures, while team-mates Charlie Lucas (9), Henry Stevens (4) and Max Moor (2) were the only other run contributors.
A strong Warrnambool Moyne bowling line up saw South West finish the innings in the 21st over, reaching 10/85.
In reply, Warrnambool Moyne reached 6/86 after 16 overs.
Best of the bowlers were Paul Vogels 2/9 and Charlie Lucas 2/37 while other wickets fells for James O’Neil 1/8 and Henry Stevens 1 / 2.
Round three, to be played on Sunday, December 15, will see South West with the bye.
