Tough day for Tigers
LAST Saturday was a tough day for Simpson’s senior footballers at Alvie, going down 23.10.148 to 5.4.34.
A six goal to one opening quarter in favour of the top of the ladder Swans set the scene for a day dominated by the home team.
Defender Zach Harrop-Anderson was again best for the Tigers, with Louis Duynhoven and Mitch Reed also playing well.
Competition leading goal kicker Nick Harding was well held, being one of five Simpson players to kick a single goal.
The Tigers, who are just four points out of the top five, will look to get back on the winners list this week when they host the Western Eagles at Simpson.
Alvie won the reserves comfortably, 15.11.101 to 4.8.32, with Darcy Thorburn best for Simpson.
In the under 18s, Simpson won for the first time in 2025, 15.1.91 to 8.4.52.
Nate Sambell and Bradey Fratantaro were best for the Tigers, with Fratantaro and Warren Te Nana-Rodgers kicking four goals each.
Simpson had a seven point win in the under 15s, 6.13.49 to 6.6.42.
Orson Capizzi kicked three goals for the Tigers, with captain Xander Weel and vice-captain Ben Vogels best for Simpson, who now sit a game clear in fifth place.
Alvie was too strong in the under 12s, winning 10.7.67 to 3.0.18.
Kaiden Teal kicked two goals and Conor Smith one for the junior Tigers.
In the A grade netball, Simpson stormed home but ultimately fell one goal short in its 55-54 loss.
Playing her 50th senior game for Simpson, Eliza Duynhoven scored 26 goals and was named as the Tigers best, with Jessie Harding also scoring 28 goals.
Alvie won the B grade netball 58-40.
Shelby Cameron scored 20 goals to be named best player for Simpson.
Simpson came from behind at three quarter time to score a three goal win in the C grade game, 37-34.
Kayla Hallyburton scored 21 goals and Rachael Duynhoven 16, with Duynhoven named as the Tigers best.
Simpson won the D grade match 35-25.
Tigers captain Sharni Ward scored 19 goals and Brianna Ferrari 16, while Isabelle Robertson was named best for the D grade Tigers.
Alvie won the 17 and under netball 40-22.
Kaylee Jansen shot 12 goals, with Olivia Rhode named as the Tigers best.
Simpson had a big victory in the 15 and under game, winning 60-13.
Milah Crole was best for the Tigers, Kustom Robertson top scoring with 36 goals.
The 13 and under match saw a 39-7 win for Alvie.
Nyha Ford, Kensie Austin and Imogen McVilly best for Simpson.
