Timboon joins together for morning tea
AROUND 40 community members gathered for a morning tea in Timboon to raise vital funds for those impacted by cancer.

The Timboon and District Healthcare Service (TDHS) hosted the event, known as the Biggest Morning Tea, in their community room on Friday, June 6 for the Cancer Council.
From 10am-12noon, guests enjoyed comforting cups of tea and delicious homemade nibbles, all united by a shared purpose – to make a real difference.
Together, they raised over $1000 to support cancer research and life-saving treatments.
The morning was made even more special by the heartfelt stories shared by three inspiring guest speakers – Catherine Marr, Julie Harkin and John Tregea.
Each of them opened up about their own journeys with cancer, touching everyone present and highlighting the importance of community support and ongoing research.
Generous raffle prizes kindly donated by local businesses added to the spirit of giving and brought smiles to many faces at the end of the event.
At the heart of the fundraiser was Lesley Togni, now in her second year helping lead the event.
Living with multiple myeloma, Mrs Togni spoke passionately about the importance of funding clinical trials.
“The money raised goes straight into trials that help develop advanced treatments,” she said.
“Without these trials, we wouldn’t have the hope we have today.”
Supporting Mrs Togni was TDHS health promotion officer Christie Berry, who reflected on the event’s success.
“It’s wonderful to see our community come together for such a worthy cause,” Ms Berry said.
“At TDHS, we proudly support Cancer Council fundraisers like The Longest Day and The Biggest Morning Tea.
“Every bit we raise could help save a life.”
As the morning ended, the sense of community, hope and kindness remained strong – a powerful reminder a simple cup of tea can make all the difference.
