Timboon Action returns

AFTER a brief winter hiatus following the success of the Timboon 150 celebrations, Timboon Action are coming back in time for spring.

The popular Timboon maker’s and farmer’s market will be returning on Sunday, September 21 from 10am-2pm and will run monthly until April next year.

Timboon Action president Enid O’Connor said businesses will have received notification on how to become a member of Timboon Action.

“Being a member doesn’t necessarily mean you have to attend all the meetings, but it allows you to be part of the umbrella of Timboon Action,” she said.

“That doesn’t just go to the traders – that goes to every person that lives in and around Timboon.

“When we say Timboon Action we want to represent Timboon and the community.

“We can only do that if the community comes on board.

“Being a part of Timboon Action means you get access to minutes from meetings and the right to vote.”

It costs $20 for a membership to Timboon Action, which goes for a business, group or individual.

“Any members of groups in the community, we would like to have them involved, then we can advocate for them, or we can assist them in ways if they need us to,” Timboon Action secretary Leeanne Whitehead said.

“Especially between us and the shire.

“Our annual general meeting (AGM) is coming up on Wednesday, October 7 at 7.30pm and we invite everyone to attend.”

Mrs O’Connor said the help increased membership can provide at Timboon Action could also extend beyond the shire.

“Not only with the shire but with the state government as well, with roadworks – we can ask for assistance to improve our roads if we are a solid, united front,” she said.

“Besides our AGM, the first Timboon Action meeting is at the Timboon school library on Tuesday, September 2 at 6.30pm.”
