Thumping win for Demons
LISMORE Derrinallum has scored a thumping 24.24.168 to 3.6.24 win over Moyston Willaura in round four of the Mininera and District Football League senior competition.
Demons coach Alec Wiltshire said his team set the tone early with a seven goal to none first quarter in the match at the Derrinallum Recreation Reserve.
“We had so many contributors, it was really pleasing to have nine different goalkickers.”
Austin Humphrey kicked seven goals for the winners; Wiltshire praising his consistency alongside midfielder Blake Scott.
But it was defender and best on ground Will Langley that the coach had the highest plaudits for.
“Will was the driver at half back and leads our defence brilliantly, he was a real standout” Wiltshire said.
St Josephs’ recruit Zack Mongelli made his debut for the Demons and also impressed the coach.
“Zack has only just started training due to work commitments and played mostly forward on Saturday, but in time will fit well into our midfield,” Wiltshire said.
Jack McCallum and Lachie Constable both kicked five majors for the Demons.
A huge match this week sees the second placed Demons host third placed Woorndoo Mortlake, again at Derrinallum.
“There’s plenty of hype around Woorndoo Mortlake and they have started well. It should be a great game; our younger players will give them a run,” Wiltshire said.
“There’s certainly no love lost between the two teams.”
The reserves match saw Lismore Derrinallum triumph by 40 points, 10.13.73 to 4.9.33.
Matthew Bacon kicked three goals for the Demons, with Fraser Toohey, Sebastian Smith and Dale Ness best players for the winners.
The Demons had a 12.9.81 to 4.6.30 win in the under 16.5 football.
Jackson Davies kicked six goals for the winners and was named best player, with Laine Scott and Campbell Greig also in the best.
Lismore Derrinallum returned to the A grade netball winners’ list with a 37-24 victory.
Emily Murray shot 15 goals for the A grade Demons, with Alex Sheridan and Hannah Walker named as best.
The B grade Demons had a 30-14 win, with Kaila Scott named best on court.
For the Demons, Stella Horspole top scored with 16 goals with Bridgette Filbay scoring 12.
Moyston Willaura took the points in C grade netball 25-14.
Bella Hovey and Simone Gellie were best for the C grade Demons, with Sophie Sumner top scoring with seven goals.
Lismore Derrinallum was too good in the 18 and under game with a 34- 11 win.
Stella Horspole shot 25 goals for the Demons and was named in the best alongside Jess Miller.
The 15 and under netball saw Lismore Derrinallum win 13-8.
Charlotte Henderson shot six goals for the Demons and was named in the best players alongside Wednesday Smith.
Lismore Derrinallum’s 13 and under netballers scored a 17-7 win, goal attack Alexis Henderson scoring 16 goals, while Eliza Kerr and Matilda Henderson were named as best for the junior
