Successful road trip for Lions
THE Corangamite Lions have come home from their road trip to Maryborough with wins in both the division one and division two men’s fixtures.

The Lions won the division one match 5-0, finishing all over the home team in the second half after being 1-0 up at half-time.
“It was a cagey first half, both teams played well. The longer the game went the more our fitness kicked in,” a very happy Lions coach Aaron Corrigan said.
While happy his team had such a strong win, Corrigan said his team could and should have scored more in the second half given its dominance.
Corrigan rated centre mid Flavien Riviere best for Corangamite.
“He played a great game and set up plenty of attacking moves for us,” Corrigan said.
Riviere scored a second half goal, with Roman Fachetti and Robert Ayimba scoring two goals each.
“Some of our players doubled up and played both games, which was a great effort on a warm day.”
Corrigan described the division two game, won 6-5 by the Lions, as a “ping-pong game” that opened up plenty of scoring opportunities.
James Wallace scored a hat-trick for the Lions, with the other goals going to Karl Antiza, Flavien Riviere and Matt Borchers.
Corrigan said the near two-hour bus trip was a fantastic bonding day for the team.
“They’re good days when you win,” he said.
The under 12 Lions had a three all draw against BNUSC, with Hamish Messer scoring a hat-trick for Corangamite.
The Lions women’s team had the bye.
This Sunday the Lions will host Victoria Park SC at Scotts Creek.
