Strong results for Camperdown College
THIS week saw eight Year Nine students at Camperdown College recognised for their outstanding results in NAPLAN.

NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) tests, which were administered in March, are used to measure students’ literacy and numeracy skills.
Year Nine is the final year students are required to sit these tests and the Department of Education takes the opportunity to celebrate and recognise excellent results and learning growth of the cohort.
Eight current Year nine students were sent awards from the Minister of Education Ben Carroll and Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) chief executive officer Andrew Smith, highlighting their learning.
Charlotte Bennett saw results for the numeracy test in the ‘exceeding’ tier – the top proficiency level of NAPLAN results.
Max Thompson, Reece Hester, Dain Collins, Taylah Bernoth and Elisha Boyd all were in the ‘exceeding’ level for the reading test, while Sicily Thun’s results were in the top level for both numeracy and ready.
Taylah and Elisha also achieved high growth and an increased proficiency level between their Year Seven and Year Nine tests in reading and numeracy respectively.
Aiden Patching also saw strong growth in his Reading test results compared to his results in Year Seven.
College principal Vicki Angus said the school community was thrilled to share in the students’ success.
“We are incredibly proud of our overall Year Nine NAPLAN results which are above state averages in reading and numeracy,” she said.
“This, along with the outstanding growth and achievement of the students who received recognition, is a testament to their hard work, the dedication of our teachers, and the supportive learning environment we strive to create at our college.
“NAPLAN is just one of the measures used to help track student learning.
“At Camperdown College student learning is recognised in many ways, and a high point of a term is the end of term celebration of learning assemblies.
“These present an opportunity for each teacher to recognise the efforts of all different students who have demonstrated the school’s values and have shown a notable dedication to improving their skills and understanding.”
Ms Angus said there was noticeable excitement from the students when they received their certificates.
“NAPLAN testing week is a rigorous week, and to be recognised and validated in this way is exciting and for some students, it will be a highlight,” she said.
