Strong crowd at farm-centric first aid session
A WORKSHOP teaching farm-specific first aid skills saw strong attendance last Wednesday.

The ‘First on Scene’ farm first aid workshop held at the Old Bookaar School saw 17 participants, with various talks also presented on the day.
Stockyard First Aid owner Georgie Gretton, who delivered the workshop, said the group size was ideal and allowed participants to ask questions and engage in various discussions.
“The group learned how to conduct a basic patient assessment and perform CPR,” she said.
“The CPR session saw great participation but the real highlight was the discussions throughout the day on how to tailor care to the farm setting.
“We then moved on to farm-specific injuries, such as burns, crush injuries, bleeding and snake bites.
“Erin Fahey and Kate Schlicht from South West Mental Health also joined us for a short session on anxiety and depression, including information on where to seek help.”
Scott Selle from the Spring Hill Country Fire Authority (CFA) brigade was also a guest speaker on the day, speaking about how CPR saved his life after a cardiac arrest on the fireground.
Mrs Gretton extended her gratitude to everyone who supported the event.
“I want to thank Erin and Kate from South West Mental Health for their support, and Scott Selle from CFA for sharing his incredible story,” she said.
The session was funded by the National Centre for Farmer Health.
