Step-up in milk price announced
SAPUTO Dairy Australia (SDA) have announced a step-up in milk price for the 2025-26 season, but south west dairy farmers will not be seeing the greatest end of the deal.
Earlier this month SDA announced an opening weighted average milk price of $8.80-$8.95 per kilogram of milk solids (kgMS) for exclusive supply in the 2025-26 season.
On Friday, June 13 SDA released a follow-up announcement, declaring the weighted average milk price will be $9.00-$9.10 per kgMS for exclusive supply in the southern region.
This step-up applies to suppliers who have, or elect to, enter into an exclusive Milk Supply Agreement as published on SDA’s website.
However, where the price will step up by 20 cents per kgMS for suppliers in Gippsland and Tasmania, it will alternatively step up 15 cents per kgMS for suppliers in the northern region, south west Victoria and South Australia.
SDA director of milk supply and planning Kate Ryan said SDA had listened to suppliers’ valuable feedback since releasing the opening weighted average milk price.
“We remain committed to offering a competitive milk price for our loyal supplier base and this early step-up reflects a considered position based on market conditions,” she said.
“As always, we will continue to review our milk prices throughout the season.”
The milk prices quoted above are a weighted average across SDA’s supply base.
Milk prices achieved at individual farm level will vary based on specific milk supply circumstances and a variety of factors on farm.
