Shire continues advocacy against ESVF
CORANGAMITE Shire councillors and executivestaff have taken the shire’s priorities to State Government, speaking to a variety of ministers over two days.

Council chief executive officer (CEO) David Rae said the group – which included director works and services Shaun Broadbent, director corporate and community services David Harrington, director sustainable development Justine Linley and manager governance and civic support Kathryn Anderson – spent two days last week advocating on behalf of the community.
“We met with State Ministers, Shadow Ministers, departmental leaders and key peak bodies to elevate Corangamite’s priorities – including reform of the Emergency Services Volunteer Fund Levy, drought response, roads, housing and population growth, protection of high-value agricultural land and investment in regional skills and education,” he said.
“Our delegation also advocated for water security in the face of an ongoing drought.
“Council remains steadfast in their commitment to stand up for community, residents, businesses and farmers at every opportunity.
“We also made a valued reconnection with former CEO Paul Younis who gave a presentation on effective governance.”

Councillors met with Member for Polwarth and Shadow Minister for Planning Richard Riordan, Member for Western Victoria and Minister for Skills and TAFE Gayle Tierney, Member for Ripon Martha Haylett, Member for Lowan and Shadow Minister for Agriculture Emma Kealy, and Legislative Assembly Environment and Planning Committee Jacinta Ermacora.
The delegation also met with Agriculture Victoria CEO Beth Jones and executive director Dougal Purcell, Municipal Association of Victoria CEO Kelly Grigsby, Deputy secretary of First Peoples State Relations Terry Garwood and Regional Development Victoria CEO Dr Xavier Csar.
