Sendanayake Cricketer of the Year

TALENTED all-rounder Tharaka Sendanayake has been named Cricketer of the Year for Pomborneit Cricket Club.

Division 1 Cricketer of the Year: Tharaka Sendanayake.

Sendanayake, who has made a big impression in division one this season, was presented with his award during the Bulls’ annual senior presentation last Saturday night.

The club recognised its senior and junior award winners on the weekend, with the seniors gathering on Saturday evening followed by junior presentations on Sunday.

Sendanayake was also named the club’s Twenty20 Player of the Year.

Other senior awards went to Dave Murphy (most runs with 524 for the season), Danussika Bandara (most wickets with 36, as well as being recognised for five-wickets in an innings, 5/6 v Camperdown and 5/4 v Camperdown) and Gavin Reynolds (5/12 v Bookaar in a Twenty20 match).

For the Pomborneit Gold women’s team, Samantha Coxon was named Cricketer of the Year and winner of the most runs award with 287.

Most wickets (16) went to Nellie Sadler who also took out a five wickets in an innings’ award for recording 6/8 v Stoneyford.

Division two’s Cricketer of the Year went to Luke Reynolds, who also had the side’s most runs with 403.

Charlie Voutier took out the division two bowling award with 24 wickets while Tom Darcy was rewarded for his century (112 runs) against Heytesbury Princetown.

A ‘five wickets in an innings’ award went to Hunter Thompson, 6/30 v Heytesbury Princetown.

For the Maroon women’s side, Janelle Whitehead was named Cricketer of the Year. She also recorded the most runs with 215.

Lily Van Es (seven wickets) took home the bowling award.

In division three, Garry Riches was named Cricketer of the Year while the most runs went to Tony Evans (199) and bowling award to Tayla Reynolds (12 wickets).

In the under 17 boys competition, Gavin Reynolds was named Cricketer of the Year for the team.

Reynolds also took home awards for most runs (271) and most wickets (17).

Nellie Sadler was named Cricketer of the Year for the under 17 girls, also taking out the most wickets with 18 and a ‘five wicket innings’ award after scoring 5/2 v Bookaar.

Jada Mahony was awarded the most runs with 225.

In the under 16s, Ben Whytcross was Cricketer of the Year while Gavin Reynolds scored the most runs (266) and Josh Reynolds and Ollie Delaney shared the most wickets with six each.

George Sadler was named the Bulls’ under 14 boys Cricketer of the Year. He also took out the most runs (274) and most wickets (19).

In the under 13 girls’ competition, Charlotte Richardson was named Cricketer of the Year and also took the most wickets for the team (12).

Isla Spokes won the batting award with 157 runs.

Pomborneit Maroon under 13 girls’ Cricketer of the Year went to Emily Reynolds who also had the most runs (43) and shared the wicket-taking award with team-mates Pippa Murphy and Jayde Melano (five wickets each).

Pomborneit Gold’s under 13 boys Cricketer of the Year went to Sam Tolland, who also had the most runs (95).

The most wickets were taken by Alex Huggins and Ollie Rahles-Rahbula with six each.

For Pomborneit Maroon under 13s, Miller Murphy was Cricketer of the Year (also highest runs with 118) and most wickets (7) which was shared with Jonty Richardson.

Rising star awards were presented to Jada Mahony and Ollie Delaney.

The most catches in a senior team went to Grant Place (nine in division one) and Josh Reynolds (13 in the under 14 boys).

Gavin Reynolds was named the club’s Volunteer of the Year.
