Trailing by 20 points at the final change in last weekend’s Warrnambool District season opener, the Power stormed home, kicking three goals five behinds to the home team’s two behinds in an exciting conclusion to a low scoring affair.

“Last season we lost several of those close games, but on Saturday it just felt like there was a real belief among the group that we could get it done. We never gave up,” a very pleased Kolora-Noorat co-coach Sam Uwland said.

“There were plenty of positives, the inclusion of the likes of Joel Dillon and Fred Beasley has improved and strengthened our depth across the board, while we are fitter and have developed as a group over the off season.”

The Power handed senior debuts to Harry Schrama, Josh Brown, Thomas Justin and Bailey Kavenagh; the club pleased with their contributions.

Uwland praised Caleb Kavenagh for his best on ground performance, noting the young midfielder and 2024 best and fairest was “continuing his fantastic form of last year”.

Oscar Curran and debutante Schrama were also among the Power’s best.

In the earlier games, Kolora-Noorat had a two goal win in the reserves and a 68 point win in the under 18s, with Old Collegians having resounding wins in the under 15s and under 13s.

This week sees the Power host Merrivale at Noorat.
