Quality field for tournament

MORTLAKE Golf Club attracted a quality field of entrants in its winter tournament last week.


Visitors travelled from far and wide for the three days, including players from Port Fairy, East Framlingham, Macarthur, Torquay, Heywood and Terang.

The men’s and women’s 4BBB stableford last Wednesday, August 6 was well contested.

Bernie Kenna and Terry Coolahan won the men’s event on 42 points, from runners-up Aaron Davies and Peter West on 41.

Nearest the pins: 3/12 Aaron Davies, 6/15 Richard van Diemen, 9/18 Tyler Schafer.

In the women’s competition, Cecilia Campbell-Narik and Lorraine Jensen won on 33 points on countback from Bernadette Pickett and Loretta O’Brien, also on 33.

Nearest the pins: 9/18 Loretta O’Brien.

Last Saturday’s stroke event was won by Aaron Davies on 32-98-66 from runner-up Josh Jewell 22-93-71.

The scratch winner was Shane Slater on 77, with Peter Palmer the runner-up on 83.

Nearest the pins: 3/12 Shane Slater, 6/15 Peter Palmer, 9/18 Tony McLennan.

Last Sunday’s three-person ambrose was won by Wes Wareham, Scott Richie and Jordan Wareham on 8.5-6-59.5.

The runners-up were Matt Hanrahan, Damien McMaster and Brian McInnes on 5 1/3-66-60 2/3.

The scratch winners were Warren Durdin, Matt Nicholls and Dane Linde on 65.
