Powerful works on display
AN artist’s artistic journey over the years will be on show for this month’s exhibition at the Camperdown Courthouse.

Jodie Burkitt is exhibiting for the month of June, with her works showcasing a vast variety of media and subjects.
“It’s just a collection of work I’ve done over a number of years – it’s just really a journey of artwork,” Ms Burkitt said.
“It’s experimenting in different media, textures and colours, and playing with materials.
“Over the years I have done art therapy, so there’s a few pieces that reflect some of that – one particular piece from art therapy that I’ll be putting in is powerful, but I’m going to put it in anyway.
“There’re some others from when I separated, and my kids were with their dad, I just sat down and drew all weekend.
“I don’t really have a theme for my exhibition, and I’ve got all sorts of different works – from life drawings that are abstract to abstract pictures that are just colours and textured colours.”
Works will also include pastel drawings, acrylic paints, three-dimensional works and broken mirror art.
Ms Burkitt said she was looking forward to showing her “interesting” works.
“I’m really nervous about it because I’ve never done anything like this before, so I feel like I’m putting myself out there and I’m wondering how I’ll be received,” she said.
“I just hope my artworks are enjoyable and people can come and see it and appreciate it.”
