Power turns the tables
KOLORA-Noorat has engineered a 90-point turnaround from its first clash with Panmure this year, with a 49-point win over the Bulldogs in the round 16 senior football match at Noorat.

Back in round seven Panmure scored a 41-point win over the Power at Panmure.
“Last Saturday was a good win, we talked about getting a win back from them after the disappointing performance last time we played,” Power coach Sam Uwland said of the 15.15.105 to 9.2.56 victory.
After an even first term, Uwland was pleased with how the Power took on the game after quarter time.
“From the second quarter onwards we played our brand of footy and played it well,” Uwland said.
Fred Beasley and Caleb Kavenagh were best for Kolora-Noorat in the win.
“Fred and Caleb ran really well through the midfield, both gave us a lot of run and carry.
“Louis Cahill used his strength in the midfield, finding other guys out in the open and helping us use our speed to advantage.”
Beasley kicked three goals, as did under 18 forward Oscar Ritchie.
“Oscar was really good up forward, he has a lot of smarts around goal and gets into really good spots.”
Other multiple goalkickers for Kolora-Noorat were Kavenagh, Nick Casterton, Joel Dillon and Uwland himself with two each.
This week the Power head to Nirranda to play the reigning premiers.
“I keep telling the boys to be the best you have to beat the best.
“The expectations on us will be low, we’ll go out and have a red hot crack.”
Kolora-Noorat had a strong 10.5.65 to 4.4.28 win in the reserves football.
Paul Messer, Alex Martin and Nick Parsons were the Power’s best in the win, with Messer kicking six goals and Nathan Glennen two.
There was no under 18 or under 15 football due to Panmure not fielding teams in those age levels.
In the under 13s, Panmure had a big 12.16.88 to no score win.
Hamish Messer, Jack Menz and Rohan Elliott were best for the junior Power.
In the A grade netball, Kolora-Noorat scored a crucial 34-24 victory to stay in touch with the top five.
The Power remain in seventh place but are behind fifth placed Timboon on percentage only.
“It was a nice win, and one of our better starts,” Power coach Lillie Bourke said of the 14-7 opening term in Kolora-Noorat’s favour.
Tara Elliott, Kate Jubb and Courtney Garner were best for the Power in the win.
“Tara was fantastic as goal keeper, she had a great presence on the court, while Kate was also very solid defensively,” Bourke said.
“Courtney continues to be very consistent and dominating under the ring.”
Garner led the scoring with a match high 33 goals.
The day doubled as a celebration for Bourke and her sister Molly, as both were celebrated for playing 100 senior games for the Power.
Both Bourke sisters commenced their netball in the Power’s junior ranks, with both featuring in several junior premierships.
Molly first appeared at senior level in A reserve in 2011, with Lillie debuting in A reserve three years later.
After some time playing with Geelong Amateurs FNC, the Bourke sisters made their return to Kolora-Noorat in 2023.
“Molly has great netball knowledge in her game, she’s a very skilled player and great to have in the team,” Bourke said of her sister.
“We know each other’s games so well, we definitely have an awareness on court as to where the other one is.”
The 100 game milestone is a significant landmark for the Power coach.
“It really does mean a lot to reach this mark at the club I've grown up at.
“Our grandparents Billy and Kate are life members of Kolora-Noorat, it’s wonderful to continue that legacy at our family club.”
Kolora-Noorat had a 42-18 win in the A reserve netball.
Steph Jenkins, Grace Lee and Taleah Murfett were best for the Power, with Hayley Collins scoring 19 goals and Lee 18.
The B grade game saw Kolora-Noorat record a 31-21 win.
Rebecca Williams and Keely Vaughan were the Power’s best, with Alexandra Smith shooting 17 goals and Alexis Ameduri 13.
Kolora-Noorat scored a 34-24 win in the 17 and under netball.
Mayci Dwyer and Eliza Beaton were the Power’s best, with Harriot Riches scoring 20 goals and Matilda Curran 14.
In the 15 and under match, Kolora-Noorat had a big 45-13 win.
Harriot Riches, Alexis Maher and Olivia Coburn were the Power’s best, with Riches scoring 31 goals and Zoe Roberts 14.
The 13 and under game saw the Power have a 35-11 win.
Ruby Williams, Georgie Mellington and Remy Herry were best for Kolora-Noorat, with Williams scoring 21 goals and Quinn Thomas 14.
