Positive signs from Tigers

WOORNDOO put in a credible performance in its round seven Colac-South West premier cricket match on Saturday, going down to the reigning Colac District Cricket Association premiers Colac by 67 runs.

Colac won the toss and elected to bat first at CMTP Oval, with Woorndoo bowling them out in the 47th over for 238.

It was a big turnaround for the Tigers bowlers after conceding 1/378 against Heytesbury-Princetown the week before.

Tyler Schafer led the Woorndoo bowling with 3/39 from 8.3 overs, with Jarryd Walsh and Damien Clifford taking two wickets each.

Woorndoo’s run chase got off to a good start with a 43 run opening partnership between Thomas and Jacob Gray.

All of the top order got starts, with Jarryd Walsh top scoring with 44 from 42 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes.

Woorndoo reached 4/128 but couldn’t keep the momentum going, losing their last six wickets for 43 runs to be all out for 171 in the 45th over.

This week Woorndoo is scheduled to play Ecklin at Ecklin, though the venue will be a wait and see as the Ecklin ground has been unable to host cricket for several weeks due to being too wet.

After forfeiting twice in a row, Woorndoo’s division three returned to action and had a three run win over Camperdown at the Woorndoo Recreation Reserve.

Batting first, Woorndoo made 145 in 37.1 overs.

James Christensen top scored with 33 from 36 balls, with Will Cameron making 24.

In reply, Camperdown just fell short, making 7/142 from 40 overs.

George Pern led Woorndoo’s bowlers with 2/29 from six overs in the win.

This week the division three Tigers will host Boorcan at Woorndoo.
