Police out in force
CORANGAMITE Police have been out in force over the week as part of Operation Optimus, which coincides with National Road Safety Week next week
National Road Safety Week is an annual road safety campaign aiming to raise awareness about the impacts of road trauma and ways to reduce it.
Corangamite Senior Sergeant Bill Caldow said Corangamite area police will partner with Warrnambool and Colac highway patrol units to target unsafe driving in and around Camperdown.
“They’ll be focused on a range of things including heavy vehicles such as tractors – to make sure they’re compliant, and the drivers are complying with the law,” he said,
“We’ll also be focusing on speed, impaired driving, distraction, mobile phone use and unauthorized drivers.
“There’ll be a number of crews taking part in it over four days from Tuesday.”
