Open tournament a success

OVER 100 golfers enjoyed a two-day Open tournament at the Camperdown Golf Club last weekend.

Saturday was a 4BBB stableford partners event.

Mark McBean and Josh Pitts finished on 36 points to win the men’s competition, while John O’Donohue and Andrew Narik were the runners-up on 44 points on a three-way countback.

For the women, Liz Fry and Chloe Healey won the competition on 43 points, with Heather Glover and Shirley Hethrington the runners-up on 39.

Men’s nearest the pins: 2nd Jack Davis, 9th (golden hole) Dave Absolom, 15th Tom Moran and 17th Tony Nicholls.

Women’s nearest the pins: 2nd Heather Glover, 9th and 17th Shirley Hetherington.

The straightest drive went to Gabby Gill and longest putt to Jack Davis.

Sunday’s event was a four-person ambrose.

The gross winners were Josh Brown, Caleb Kavenagh and Leo Beasley on 60.

The handicap winners were Ash Couch, Murray Fry, Josh Pearson and Simon Myers on 55.625, from runners-up Aaron Pitts, Luke Rogers, Callum Thomas and Jake Bateman on 56.

The mixed winners were Simon Baker, Tracey Baker, Simon Gill and Gabby Gill on 57.25.

Nearest the pins: 2nd Gary Thomson, 9th (golden hole) Chris White, 15th Murray Fry and 17th Gary Thomson.

The straightest drive went to Andrew Narik while Glenn Kampman had the longest putt.
