The two courts at the Woorndoo Recreation Reserve have received a much-needed $60,000 upgrade which saw Melbourne-based company ‘King of Courts’ resurface the existing courts using the latest Mapei sports system technology.

The club benefited from a Moyne Community Assistance fund, along with contributions from Tilt, Earth and Water Technologies, and Browns Gypsum.

A Mother’s Day raffle, wine drive, ladies’ day, cake stall and pie drive are among some of the fundraising efforts the club will hold this season.

Work commenced on the project late last month and was completed earlier this week, just in time for the Tigers to enjoy their first training run tonight (Thursday).

They will take on Moyston Willaura for round nine of the Mininera League competition on Saturday.

Club president Shane Jubb said he was extremely proud of what the club had achieved.

“For such a small club, we really are doing great things for our players, officials, supports and members,” Mr Jubb said.

“This new playing surface really complements the netball sheds, offering a complete package to not only our club but visiting clubs.”

Senior netball coordinator for the Tigers, Shona Makepeace, said the players were looking forward to their first games on the new surface.

“We’re so excited; not only does it mean our current players have a safe environment to play on but so do our opponents and future generations of netballers,” Ms Makepeace said.

“We are incredibly grateful for all the sponsors and those involved in our fundraising efforts to get this across the line.”
