Music group brightens day at David Newman
RESIDENTS who were at the David Newman Community Centre last Wednesday enjoyed a special treat when a local music group performed for them at morning tea.

The Community House Music Group played upbeat songs from bands such as Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Facilitator Eileen McKenzie said one of the staff members at the facility rang up and asked if the group would be able to perform for an hour a few weeks ago.
“They loved it – at the end, they gave us a big round of applause and said we did a good job,” she said.
“Some of them got up dancing as well.
“They knew all the songs, and they joined in with most of the songs to sing along.”
The group have been asked to return in August to perform again.
Ms McKenzie encouraged anyone who may be interested in performing around the district in a causal way to join the group every Wednesday from 11am-12noon.
“We have ten books we work from, and we do a different book each week – that takes us through the whole school term, and we have the school holidays off,” she said.
“We’ve been doing it for seven years.
“It’s open to anybody who wants to come along.
“You don’t have to have any musical experience – just come along and have a cuppa and bring your knitting or crocheting.”
The group has also performed at the Lovely Banks Nursing Home in Cobden, Berry World in Timboon and are a regular feature at Camperdown’s Carols by Candlelight, and have plans to do a street performance when the weather improves.
