MP visits Hampden P12
MEMBER for Polwarth Richard Riordan recently stepped out of Parliament to visit Hampden P-12 in Cobden for a tour of the school and to hear from students about what matters most to them.
Mr Riordan said he was invited back to the school by Year 11 and 12 students after their recent excursion to Parliament.
“The school leaders Toby, Koda, Kaleb and Brodie were fantastic with the guidance of their wonderful teacher Tegan,” he said.
“The students took me for a full tour of their newly renovated school, and were very keen to highlight some of the elements that needed to be completed and some small changes that would make a big difference to the wellbeing of all the students.
“The staff and students would really appreciate the replacement of the undercover walk ways that connect the two buildings and bathroom facilities.
“The school is growing with more students expected next year and so the school is running short of class rooms.
“Outside the students feel the school would really benefit from a climbing frame for the junior and middle school to use for both therapeutic and exercise reasons.”
Mr Riordan said he appreciated the tour and learning from the students at Hampden P-12.
“I congratulate the students on a first-class tour and very impressive set of presentations on their learning journey and what their aspirations are as young Corangamite residents,” he said.
“I appreciated the tour and hope that during the upcoming election some of their needs can become an issue over the course of the election.”
