All-rounders Ryan Mottram and Oscar Ritchie will line up in Lions colours in a big coup for the club.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to pick up both Ryan and Oscar,” Noorat Terang co-captain Liam Geary said.

“To pick up two talented 18 year-olds is fantastic, we are keen to promote youth.”

Geary said both players would fit straight into their premier team.

“They’ll slot straight in perfectly, both will bat middle to top order and both will be good bowling options.”

Mottram crosses from the Warrnambool Cricket Club, where he made 158 runs and took eight wickets in its division one premier team in the 2024/25 season.

Mottram had a busy year, also representing Warrnambool Moy-ne Gold at under 17 country week and playing for the Western Waves under 18 team.

Prior to joining Warrnambool, Mottram played his early cricket at Nirranda and Heytesbury/Princetown.

“Ryan being a left armer offers a real point of difference as opposed to the rest of our attack; it’s something we didn’t have.”

Ritchie has come through the ranks at Mortlake, representing the Cats at division one premier, division one championship and division three levels in 2024/25.

Like Mottram, Ritchie was also a part of the Western Wave under 18 team last season.

The Lions commenced training last week and had a strong turnout.

“It was good to get back into it, having a couple of handy recruits does add a bit of buzz around the club.”
