“Apart from a 10 minute lapse in the third quarter, we were thrilled with what was very close to a full four quarter effort,” new Camperdown coach Clinton Thomas said, adding that he was aware the home team had a number of players out on the night.

After an even first quarter, the Magpies dominated the second term, kicking five goals to the Bloods’ two.

The second half mirrored the first, with a largely even third term followed by a five goal to one final quarter in Camperdown's favour.

“There's a lot of kids in the team which is very exciting, they are getting called the 'Baby Pies' around the club,” Thomas said.

“Our senior players have all stepped up in a big way and are providing fantastic leadership.”

Terang Mortlake fielded six debutantes, with former Panmure forward Lachlan McLeod, former Hamilton and Panmure player Harry Turnham, young players Charlie Finnerty, William Tanner and Hamish Hobbs as well as current junior Max Heffernan appearing in Bloods colours at senior level for the first time.

Camperdown had two debutantes, with Taj Westworth joining this season from Corowa-Rutherglen and former Leitchville Gunbower player Jack Heanly new in black and white.

Riley Arnold, captain Charlie Lucas and Judah Dundon were named as best players for Camperdown.

In the earlier games in a packed Super Saturday schedule, Terang Mortlake won the reserves by 50 points, the under 18s by 40 points and the under 12s by five points, with Camperdown registering a 90 point win in the under 14s.

In this week’s matches, Portland will host Terang Mortlake at Hanlon Park, while Camperdown are home to Hamilton at the Leura Oval.
