Low rain continues

RAIN gauges remained lower than hoped for across the region throughout September, as dry weather continued.

In Terang just 66.4mm of rain was recorded to have hit the ground throughout the month, well below the long-term average of 80.1mm for the month.

The highest daily rainfall for the month occurred on the final day of September when 15mm hit the ground.

The result was down from the previous year with 77.6mm having fallen in September 2024.

The result brings the tally for Terang to 417.4mm on the year.

Meanwhile in Mortlake, the result of 50.2mm of rain hitting the ground was closer to average but still below the long-term figure of 57.3mm.

The highest daily rainfall occurred on the final day of the month when 16.6mm hit the ground.

The figure does represent an increase on the previous year, however, with just 47.8mm of rain falling in September 2024.

The result brings the total rainfall figure for 2025 through September to 364.4mm.
