Lions reach $5000 in televisions donated
THE Terang and District Lions Club has continued its run of generosity with the donation of new televisions to Terang Hospital.

Club members this week visited the hospital to donate four new televisions, which staff at the hospital quickly set about installing.
The donation was a continuation of the club’s efforts which started last year when members donated five new televisions.
The nine televisions have an estimated total value of around $5000.
Terang and District Lions Club member Geoff Coverdale had been a driving force behind the donations after visiting his mother-in-law during a stay in hospital.
He noticed the televisions could do with an upgrade, and thought it would be a productive way for the club to support Terang and Mortlake Health Service and provide comfort to patients and their families during hospital stays.
“It’s a continuation of what we’d donated 12 months ago,” Mr Coverdale said.
“We’ve now delivered nine in total, including a big 75-inch flat screen.
“This is all possible through the money we raise locally, from events such as the Noorat to Terang Fun Run and Walk to the management of the Terang Caravan Park – which is overseen by the Lions Club.
“It’s a good feeling for us to know we can do something for the local community, and in particular the local hospital and people who may be going through a tough time.”
Terang and Mortlake Health Service director of finance and administration Tim Pekin thanked members of the Lions Club for their generous donation.
“Terang and Mortlake Health Service greatly appreciates what the Lions Club has done for many years to support the services we deliver, and the last two years in particular with the donation of the new televisions,” he said.
“Not only is it great for our residents in aged care and our patients in the acute ward, but it’s also great for the staff to see and feel the support we get from the Lions Club.
“It gives everyone a lift.”
