Last Wednesday saw the drawn pairs championship contested at Timboon Lawn.

In the first round, Camperdown had the bye while Cobden (Pam Savage and David Childs) played Mepunga (Gayle McPherson and Frank Harney).

The match ended in a tie so an extra end was played, with the win going to Mepunga, 15-14.

In the bottom half of the draw, Laang-Ecklin (Max Wines and Ken Buck) played Scotts Creek (Harry Gilchrist and Loan Laing) and despite valiant efforts at each step, Scotts Creek was defeated, 23-7.

Timboon Lawn (Val Blake and Noah Mungean) played Glenormiston (Allen Armistead and Deb Noonan) in what was a very tight match.

After an even game, Timboon Lawn finished victors 10-8.

In the semi-finals Camperdown (Kelvin Rundle and Gerard Noonan) lost to Mepunga 13-14.

On the other side of the draw, Laang-Ecklin defeated Timboon Lawn 18-8.

The grand final saw Mepunga defeat Laang-Ecklin 24-16.

Congratulations to Gayle McPherson and Frank Harney on their HIBBA Drawn Pairs maiden victory and well done to Max Wines and Ken Buck on a well-played event.

Players will now focus on the upcoming HIBBA Drawn Fours Championship – where names are drawn from a hat to level the playing field.

The drawn fours will be held at Camperdown on Wednesday, August 20 – 6.45pm rollup for a 7pm start (apart from Mepunga and Scotts Creek who have the bye; please arrive by 8.30pm).
