Indoor bowls action continues
THERE was plenty of indoor carpet bowls action in round one of Heytesbury pennant last week.

In division one, Timboon Lawn 2 played host to Glenormiston 1 and the visitors got off to a flyer.
Honourable mentions to Timboon Lawn 2 skip Noah and Glenormiston 1 third Ash for their great plays.
Timboon Lawn 2 lost to Glenormiston 1, 13-27.
The Mepunga 1 v Timboon Lawn 1 match started out evenly, with the score two all after four ends.
This continued throughout the game, with the scores tied on seven occasions, but eventually Timboon Lawn were victors, 13-12.
In the third division one match, Camperdown 1 defeated Cobden 1, 27-10.
Camperdown 2 also had a tough battle against Laang-Ecklin but took the win in another close game, 17-15.
The current top four are Glenormiston 1, Camperdown 1, Mepunga 1 and Timboon Lawn 2.
In division two, Scotts Creek played host to Cobden 2.
This was another close match and despite a slow start from Scotts Creek 1, they managed to tie the game at 15-all with four ends to play.
The visitors broke the ice, picking up two shots, and in the end Cobden 2 won the game, 20-16.
Simpson 1 played host to Mepunga 2 and the visitors started strong, picking up eight shots to the home sides’ single after three ends.
Simpson 1 rallied and got going, adding 11 shots to their score, to lead by two after the halfway point.
The score see-sawed in the second half but finished with a 21-all draw.
The third match was the Battle of the Glenormiston’s, 2 v 3.
The match started off fairly even until the home side broke away and extended their lead by five, 7-2, after seven ends.
The visitors picked up 10 shots to take the lead by the same margin after 11 ends.
Final scores saw Glenormiston 2 defeat Glenormiston 3, 25-13.
In the final division two game, Timboon Lawn 3 was host to Mepunga 3.
Singles either way kept the match progressing, with the visitors breaking away, picking up three shots on ends eight and nine.
Timboon lawn 3 lost to Mepunga 3, 17-18.
The top four this week are Mepunga 3, Mepunga 2, Simpson 1, Timboon Lawn 3.
In division three, Mepunga 4 was host to Peterborough and scores were tied at three all with as many ends.
The home side broke away but by end 12 the visitors had caught up and scores were 10-all.
Peterborough broke the deadlock with two singles in as many ends, but then Mepunga 4 picked up seven shots to have a five shot lead with two ends to play.
A triple by Peterborough on the penultimate end brought them closer but Mepunga 4 defeated Peterborough, 18-15.
In the Scotts Creek 2 v Cobden 3 match, Cobden 3 prevailed, winning 35-10.
The division three ladder this week is Scotts Creek 2, Cobden 3, Mepunga 4 and Peterborough.
All teams are asked to send clear, legible pictures of completed, matching, full player names and signed pennant scores to secretary Kathryn on 0409 013 720.
Skippers are to ensure that full names (first name and surname) of players are written on the scorecards.
