Important win for Bloods

TERANG Mortlake led Portland all day in the round 11 senior football clash on Saturday, finishing with an important 13-point win.

The 9.12.66 to 7.11.53 win puts the Bloods level on 24 points with fourth placed Portland and fifth placed Koroit.

“We played four pretty good quarters,” a happy Bloods coach Lewis Taylor said.

“We were able to get our brand of footy up and going which was pleasing.”

Scott Carlin and Alex Moloney returned to the Bloods line-up after missing the previous week, and were named as Terang Mortlake’s best.

“Both Scott and Alex played really good games, both are really genuine A graders, it was great to have them both back in.”

Taylor also was full of praise for teenagers Jack Fowler and Josh Slater.

“Jack and Josh have been fantastic, they continue to grow in confidence and are nailing their roles.”

Taylor continued his own impressive form, amassing 46 disposals, six clearances and seven tackles as well as kicking three goals.

Tyler Vickers and Lachlan McLeod were the other multiple goal kickers for Terang Mortlake with two each.

Taylor noted the closeness of the ladder heading into this week’s interleague bye.

“It’s pretty tight, we can’t get too comfortable, we have some big games coming up.”

The reserves match saw Terang Mortlake record an 11.4.70 to 8.6.54 win.

Matty Arundell kicked three goals for the Bloods, with Jack Lehmann, Liam McGuane and Cameron Goddard in the best.

Portland was way too strong in the under 18 game, scoring a 20.22.142 to 1.5.11 win.

Henry Carroll, Darcy Abbott and Cameron Goddard were best for Terang Mortlake, Carroll kicking the only goal.

Terang Mortlake had a comprehensive 17.12.114 to 0.2.2 win in the under 16 game at Portland on Sunday.

Tayte McMaster, Jesse Fowler and Caleb Bamford were best for the Bloods, with Sam Wareham kicking four goals and Bamford three.

The under 14 game saw Portland record a 12.4.76 to 2.6.18 victory.

Liam Kenna, Harry Membrey, Paddy Meade and Oliver Clarke were Terang Mortlake’s best.

The under 12 game saw Terang Mortlake score a 7.4.47 to no score win.

Braxton Sachs kicked six goals and was named best on ground alongside Morgan Primmer and Archer Gleeson.

In the Open netball, Terang Mortlake had a 44-42 win.

Goal shooter Eboni Knights scored 23 goals and goal attack Jacqui Arundell 21 goals, with Arundell, Claudia Lee and Johanna Glennen best for the Bloods.

The division one netball saw Terang Mortlake score a 46-38 win.

Pippa Barr, May Suhan and Lyla Grundy were best for the Bloods, with Grundy scoring 31 goals and Madelyn Clarke 15.

Terang Mortlake got the points in the division two game with a 34-32 win.

Best for the Bloods were Caitlin Overweter, Deeanna Bell and Kaitlyn Arnott, with Holly Fowler scoring 20 goals and Jessica Davis 14.

In division three, Portland scored a 34-25 win.

Hannah Delaney, Amy Conheady and Sophie Conheady were best for the Bloods, with Ava Nolan shooting 12 goals.

It was a 46-45 win to Terang Mortlake in the 17 and under netball.

Pippa Barr, Lyla Grundy and Charli Dillon were best for Terang Mortlake, with Grundy shooting a match high 39 goals.

Terang Mortlake had the bye in the 17 and under reserves.

The 15 and under netball saw Terang Mortlake win 26-22.

Mckenzie Dillon, Violet Dillon and Madelyn Clarke were best for the under 15 Bloods, Clarke scoring 21 goals.

Terang Mortlake had the bye in the 15 and under reserves.

Terang Mortlake won the 13 and under game 29-13.

Matilda Conheady, Daisy Dillon and Imogen Barr were best for the Bloods, with Poppy Moloney scoring 15 goals and Barr 14.

The 13 and under reserves netball saw a 27-13 win to Terang Mortlake.

Isabella Robertson, Francesca Rickard and Isabel Moloney were best for the Bloods, with Robertson shooting 18 goals and Rickard nine.
