High rainfall recorded over June
THIS past month saw the highest recorded rainfall so far this year, bringing much needed relief to farmers across the region.

With 127mm of rainfall recorded over Cobden this June, the district has finally broken the long-term average of 82.7mm which has historically been experienced for the month.
The annual total to May was only 107mm of recorded rain, with June alone producing more rain in one month than the rest of the year combined.
The two days with the highest recorded rainfall were June 8 and June 25, recording 37mm and 32.8mm respectively.
Both days recorded higher rainfall than the total month’s rainfall for any of the previous months of the year.
This month also compared well against the same period last year, with June 2024 seeing only 43.8mm of rain.
More rain will be needed to break drought conditions, however, as while there were a few heavy days of rain, more than half the days of June did not record any rainfall at all.
Consistent rainfall will be necessary for drought recovery moving into July.
Including June’s total brings the yearly total of recorded rainfall to 254mm.
