Heavy losses for Dragons

LAST Saturday was a rough day for Boorcan’s cricketers, with both the Dragons senior teams copping heavy defeats.


In division two at Boorcan, the Dragons had a 213 run loss to Pomborneit.

The visitors batted first and plundered 5/336 from their 40 overs.

Alex Deane took 2/65 from eight overs, with Cain Mahoney, Simon Deane and Jack Menz taking a wicket each.

Boorcan’s run chase started brightly, with a 51 run opening partnership between Will Rowbottom and Cain Mahoney, before the Dragons fell away to be bowled out for 123 in the 31st over.

Rowbottom top scored with 36 from 42 balls, hitting seven boundaries, while Mahoney made 14 from 20 balls.

Simon Deane contributed an unbeaten 22 from 34 balls down the order.

This week Boorcan plays top of the ladder Bookaar at Frederick St.

In division three, Boorcan had an eight wicket loss to Cobden.

Batting first on the Cobden turf, the division three Dragons were rolled for just 15 in 15.5 overs.

Eight players scored ducks, with Tony Hassett digging in to make 4 not out from 39 balls.

Lila Horspole and Riley Menz took a wicket each as Cobden took just 5.4 overs to pass the score.

In tomorrow’s game, the division three Dragons face Heytesbury-Princetown at Princetown.

No results were available from the Boorcan’s under 13 game on Monday night, this Monday the under 13 Dragons play Ecklin at Ecklin.
