Twenty-six players competed in the event and there were many highlights during the weekend.

In the mixed fours, Sophie Pearson, Geoff Cook, Ron Simcox and Gary Langenhuizen (s) finished third by percentage.

In the men’s pairs, Scott Pierce and Brett Mungean (s) also finished third by percentage while in the ladies’ fours, Val Blake, Doreen Coverdale, Dawn McDowell and Maureen Bond (s) finished third by percentage.

The ladies’ triples saw Deb Noonan, Rita Mungean and Joyce Roberts (s) finished third outright.

Congratulations to the following teams and players:

Ladies singles – Lara Mungean, runner-up on percentage as well as on singles debut.

Ladies pairs – Jean Clover and Pam Dwyer (s), runners-up outright.

Mixed pairs – Pam Wines and Noah Mungean (s), champions.

Mens’ singles – Arthur Finch, champion (this made title number 11 for Arthur).

Heytesbury placed third overall, four points behind second-placed Ballarat Gold and nine points behind the winner Warrnambool Orange.

This is Warrnambool’s second overall win on the trot and Heytesbury’s best result in five years.

Heytesbury would also like to thank Indoor Bowls Warrnambool players Greg Howlett and Geoff Cook for filling-in this year.

Their help was very much appreciated.

Thanks also to Tia Jayde Photography for allowing the Heytesbury association to use her photos.

In recent pennant action, division one saw Camperdown host Laang-Ecklin.

Both teams started off fairly evenly before Camperdown 1 picked up six shots on ends five through seven to take a five-shot lead.

Not to be outdone, Laang-Ecklin responded with 13 shots of their own on ends six through 14 to lead by eight with four ends to play.

Despite a late rally from the home side, Camperdown 1 lost to Laang-Ecklin 16-20.

Mepunga 1 lost to Cobden 1, 23-24.

The third match saw Glenormiston 1 host Timboon Lawn 1.

Rounding out the division one coverage, Timboon Lawn 2 was at home to Camperdown 2 and celebrated a 24-21 victory.

In division two, Glenormiston 2 hosted Mepunga 3.

Scores locked up again on end 14 before Mepunga 3 picked up two singles on ends 15 and 16 to take the lead but Glenormiston 2’s single on the penultimate end reduced the deficit to one.

Glenormiston 2 lost to Mepunga 3, 14-16.

Simpson 1 was home to Glenormiston 3 and enjoyed a close 23-22 victory.

Cobden 2 hosted Mepunga 2 and the home side got off to a cracking start picking up eight shots in the first seven ends of the match, while the visitors also picked up eight shots.

At the end of play Cobden 2 lost to Mepunga 2, 17-22.
