Golf mishaps support children
GOLFERS who misbehaved on the golf course have gotten Camperdown’s Good Friday Appeal off to a strong start thanks to a fine system supporting the cause.

The Camperdown Golf Club donated $2000 towards the appeal, which kicks off this Friday, April 3.
Camperdown Golf Club president Peter Gubbins said this year’s total was an increase on last year, where the club donated $1900 to the cause.
“It’s a bit of a laugh – after golf on Saturdays, we gather around and if there’s any misdemeanours on the course, they’re fined,” he said.
“Three or four putts, you get fined.
“Out of bounds, you get fined – anything that’s really stupid on a golf course.
“That’s how we raise the money.
“It’s pretty well taken – there are a few who don’t like it and try to hide it, but we get some money out of it. It’s all for a good cause.”
Mr Gubbins said the club was determined to beat the previous year’s total.
“We weren’t quite there but a couple of us dug deep at the last minute,” he said.
Camperdown Good Friday Appeal coordinator Kellie Kempton expressed her gratitude to the Camperdown Golf Club for the donation.
“It means we’re off to a great start, especially in this current climate,” she said.
“We’re very appreciative of it, and they’ve been a very big supporter over the years.”
