Glenormiston wins the ‘Ashes’

GLENORMISTON indoor bowlers have retained the annual ‘Ashes Tournament’ with a win over Scott’s Creek.

Played on April 14, the event attracted a large number of players and five mats were needed to accommodate them all.

Glenormiston won the event by 12 points.

The week prior, on April 7, two teams won their three games, with the team of Max and the two Dawns winning by eight on countback.

On April 21, scoring was tight, with two teams on three wins.

The eventual winners of the night were Scott, Maureen, David and Danielle by two points.

On April 23, round one of pennant saw a mixed bag of games.

Glenormiston 1, comprising Alan, Ash, Scott and Bec, had a 15 point win over Timboon Lawn 1 despite giving the opposition two points after a knock-off.

Glenormiston 2, comprising Ron, Deb C, Noel and Maureen, travelled to Mepunga but unfortunately went down by nine points.

The Glenormiston 3 team of Max, Deb N, Rita and Ray played host to Simpson.

After Simpson got off to a big lead, Glenormiston scraped back with some impressive bowling to go down by only one point.

Monday, April 28 saw Ron, Deb N and Sybil the only team to finish the night with three wins.

Round two of pennant was played last Wednesday.

The division one team of Scott, Bec, Alan and Ash had a big win over Timboon Lawn 2 by 12 points.

Division two teams Glen 1 and Glen 2 played each other last week.

After a close game, Glenormiston 2 eventually came out on top by 12 points.

New members are always welcome.

Glenormiston Indoor Bowls is played at the Glenormiston Hall each Monday from 7.30pm.
