Flanno for a farmer at Cobden Tech
STUDENTS at Cobden Tech threw on their flannels in support of farmers last week as part of the Flanno for a Farmer movement run in August.

The fundraiser supports not-for-profit Farm Angels to provide critical help to farmers in need who are struggling due to devastating conditions such as drought or floods.
Cobden Tech assistant principal Sarah Cook said it was the students who came together and decided they wanted to raise money for this important cause.
“The student voice committee meet and work alongside the leadership and wellbeing team to work out the fundraising days we do,” she said.
“For this one specific event the senior vocational major (VM) class made posters and put them up and asked students to show their support.
“The Flanno for a Farmer day was something that last year the students identified as wanting to do, and this year we thought it was really important that students identify those days.
“We think it’s important that students take some ownership of the days that they would like to recognise in terms of wellbeing or education.
“That’s the student voice part coming in.”
Students wore flannels over their uniform, with some getting creative and throwing on some flannel pants, and brought in a gold coin donation to support Farm Angels.
“We found it’s best to keep their uniform but they can add a touch of the theme of the day to their uniform,” Mrs Cook said.
“It’s a really nice way for students to show their support and be involved and bring a gold coin donation if they wish.”
