First loss for Demons

LISMORE Derrinallum’s senior footballers have recorded their first loss of the 2025 season.

The Demons went down to Wickliffe Lake Bolac by nine points last weekend, 11.8.74 to 12.11.83.

The Demons were ahead by seven points at half-time in the match at Lake Bolac before the home team scored four goals to none in the third quarter; proving decisive in an otherwise even game.

“It was a good contest, our execution in the third quarter let us down and was probably the difference,” Demons coach Alec Wiltshire said.

Former West Coast best and fairest winner Scott Selwood lined up in his first game for the home team and was named among the Magpies best.

“He (Selwood) was probably the difference in the last quarter,” Wiltshire said.

“He was a steady head, always made right decisions and gave them great leadership.”

Lachie Constable led the goal kickers for Lismore Derrinallum with five.

Wiltshire rated Blake Scott and Henry Walsh as best for the Demons.

“Blake kicked two of the better goals you’d see in country footy, in both he had three or four bounces and put it through from 30 metres out.”

This week a trip to Penhurst to take on the reigning premiers awaits.

“Penhurst is always tougher at home, but if we play to and execute our systems well we will give ourselves every chance.”
