Dry start to spring

SPRING has had a drier-than-average start with Camperdown, Lismore and Derrinallum all recording low rainfall figures for September.


Camperdown recorded a total of 74.2mm of rainfall across the month.

The figure falls just shy of the long-term monthly average of 76.7mm and is lower than the 78.9mm of rainfall recorded in September 2024.

September 1 saw the highest daily rainfall for Camperdown, with 17mm hitting the ground in 24 hours.

The total rainfall tally for Camperdown this year is currently 399mm.

Meanwhile, Lismore saw 48.6mm of rain over the month.

The figure falls below the previous year’s total of 67.8mm as well as the long-term monthly average of 61.8mm.

Lismore’s highest daily rainfall was recorded on September 30, where 7.8mm fell over the 24-hour period.

To date, Lismore’s rainfall tally for 2025 sits at 342.4mm.

Derrinallum also saw low rainfall recorded for September, with 49mm hitting the ground.

The figure is lower than the long-term monthly average of 65.2mm.

This September’s rainfall is also lower than the 63mm recorded in September 2024.

September 30 saw Derrinallum’s highest daily rainfall, with 9.2mm hitting the ground.

Derrinallum’s total rainfall for 2025 currently sits at 328.2mm.
