Drought broken for reserves at Tatyoon

CARAMUT’S senior footballers had a narrow nine-point loss to the Hawks at Tatyoon on Saturday.


The Swans kicked five goals to none in the first term, and still held a five-point lead at the final change but the Hawks flew home, winning 9.15.69 to 8.12.60.

“We made a good start in the first quarter with the wind, then Tatyoon used that advantage in the second quarter,” Caramut coach Scott Judd said.

“The game became a bit of a slog after that.”

Tatyoon kicked three goals to one in the final quarter to run out nine point victors.

“We didn’t convert our chances, we missed several set shots,” Judd said of the last quarter.

“It really was a game that got away.”

Big man Jarvis Bermingham was named best for the Swans, and led the goal kickers with three.

“Jarvis played a fantastic game, he ran their ruckman around and had his hands on the ball a fair bit.”

Also in the best was Charlie Farrer, who made his Caramut debut after crossing from Hamilton, kicking two goals.

“Charlie had some parts in the game where he got right on top, he’s a good in for us.”

Damien Wynd also kicked two goals, taking his season tally to 20.

This week Caramut host SMW Rovers in what shapes as a big day for the Swans.

“It’s our past players and sponsors day, we’re hopeful a big crowd of former players will turn out.

“It would be good to get that win that we should have had last week.”

Caramut’s reserves won at Tatyoon for the first time since 2011, registering an 8.4.52 to 6.6.42 victory.

Best for the Swans were Phil Edwards, Michael Payne and Joe Douglas, with Douglas bagging six goals.

Caramut also had a 6.13.49 to 1.3.9 win in the under 16.5 match.

Spurs Lynch kicked four goals and was named best on ground along with Carl Lehmann and Alex Hill.

Tatyoon was dominant in the A grade netball, scoring a 59-22 win.

Best for Caramut were WhaWha Hapuku and Charlotte van der Starre, with Emilie Tonissen scoring 15 goals.

In B grade, Tatyoon had a 37-26 win.

Best for Caramut were Chloe Folkes and Chloe Anderson, with Anderson scoring 15 goals.

In C grade, Caramut had a 28-19 win.

Rachel Hassett scored 20 goals in a best on court performance.

In the 18 and under netball, Caramut had a 27-25 win.

Maddi Calvert and Sarah Russell were the Swans best, with Emilie Tonissen scoring 14 goals.

Tatyoon got the points in the 15 and under game with a 25-11 win.

Best for Caramut were Grace O’Sullivan and Payson Walker, with Zoe Pope scoring eight goals.

Caramut remain unbeaten in the 13 and under netball after scoring a 44-4 win.

Alex Lehmann shot 24 goals in a best on court performance.
