Driver behaviour disappoints police

A RECENT road operation has left police disappointed as drivers continue to drive dangerously within the Corangamite area.

Operation Dusty ran on Saturday, August 30 and Saturday, September 6, focusing on unlicensed drivers, distracted drivers and substance-affected drivers.

Camperdown Police Acting Senior Sergeant Stuart Revell said police were disappointed to detect a moderate number of alleged drunk drivers, many of which returned a blood alcohol reading (BAC) over 0.1.

“Along with that, we also had car inspections which included defect notices, parking infringements and disqualified and unlicensed drivers which involves the impound of their vehicle,” he said.

“Although the operation was successful, it was disappointing for police to see those offences are still occurring in Corangamite.

“The take-home message is police are out and about at all hours of the night in Corangamite.

“Expect to continue to see police.

“Even though the operation has been finalised, it’s shown us we still need to perform those duties.”
