Cobden Quota Friends of Rotary’s appeal raised $13,767,53 for the cause, according to appeal manager Fran Warden.

She said she was amazed with the final total considering how few collectors there were in Cobden on Friday.

“We had very few collectors and only a small part of the town was collected,” Mrs Warden said.

“The ones that did go out, did a wonderful job.

“It all adds up.”

Mrs Warden thanked Cobden businesses, in particular Ritchies IGA Cobden and the Cobden Golf Club, for their support throughout the year.

“Thank you to Angie and Paula for their help on the day,” she said.

“We did have a few large donations and I thank those people.

“Thank you to the Cobden Uniting Church for allowing us to use the space.”

Mrs Warden said she was pleased with how the day went.

“I thought we had a very successful day,” she said.

“Hopefully next year we might be able to do something different to get collectors.”

Timboon and District Good Friday Appeal area manager Lee Edge was pleased with the overall total.

Timboon and district supported the cause to the tune of $42,203 with district fire brigades rallying to bring in a large portion of the final total.

Brucknell-Ayrford collected $4399.85, Ecklin $604.55, Kennedy’s Creek $2265.30, Lower Heytesbury $1907.70, Nirranda South $784.55, Nullawarre $4724.20, Peterborough $2215.25, Port Campbell $118.75, Princetown $1248.05, Simpson $1617.10, Timboon $4782.80 and Eddie’s Corner $2164.60.

“The local CFA units went out and collected once again, like they do every year to support this cause,” Ms Edge said.

“It’s a big day collecting all your generous donations.

“To those that donate or collect, thank you, you all do a wonderful job.”

The annual golf day saw 19 teams from as far away as Birregurra and Mortlake attending, with the popular auction ending the day on a high.

Ms Edge said the auction was well supported.

“Thank you to the sponsors and everyone who attended the golf day and auction,” she said.

“A special thank you to Jill Corneby for all of her running around and the effort she put in for the auction and golf day.

“Thanks also to the Timboon Golf Club for all of its support on the day.”
