MID way through the Mininera League football season, Lismore Derrinallum sits in seventh, just one game out of the top five.

The ladder is beginning to tighten up as the season progresses, with Penshurst currently unbeaten on top but only percentage ah-ead of Wickliffe Lake Bolac.

Hawkesdale Macarthur and Ararat sit in third and fourth respectively, separated only by percentage, with Woorndoo Mortlake rounding out the top five a game behind.

The Demons, who will host Hawkesdale Macarthur this weekend before taking on the ninth-placed SMW Rovers, will be looking to move up the ladder in the lead-up to finals.

Last Saturday saw the side fall just 10 points short of victory over reigning premiers Tatyoon on their home ground.

A six goal to three first half saw the Hawks fly into the major break with a handy 19-point lead which was reduced to 18 by three-quarter time.

The Demons rallied in the final quarter and applied pressure all over the ground, restricting the home side to just three points for the term.

However, they kicked one goal, five behinds and were unable to overcome Tatyoon on the final siren.

Scores: Tatyoon 8.15.63 to Lismore Derrinallum 7.11.53.

Best for the Demons were Josh Sanders, James Halloran, Henry Walsh, Liam Rigby, Harry Bufton and Nicholas Schiemer.

Goals went to Lachie Constable and Jack McCallum (two each), Liam Rigby, Blake Scott and Henry Walsh.

Earlier in the day, the Demons’ reserves put on a big performance to take a well-earned 74-point win, 14.15.99 to 4.1.25.

Bradley Schiltz was effective in front of goal, kicking six majors for the Demons, and was well supported on the scoreboard by team-mates James Boag and Todd Lamont (two each), Patrick Boag, Riley Browne, Jason Germon and Samuel Miller.

Among the best players were Riley Browne, Todd Lamont, Hunter Thompson, Mitchell Dellar, Jack Sanders and Angus Stewart.

The win sees the Demons sitting third on the league ladder, just a game behind the second-placed Glenthompson Dunkeld and percentage above Ararat in fourth.

There was a mixed bag of results for the Demons on the netball courts, bringing home two wins from the six games played.

A grade – Tatyoon defeated Lismore Derrinallum 86-22.

B grade – Tatyoon defeated Lismore Derrinallum 34-31.

C grade – Lismore Derrinallum defeated Tatyoon 23-22. Best: Emily Murray and Leah Holt.

18 and under – Lismore Derrinallum defeated Tatyoon 49-17. Best player: Stella Horspole.

15 and under – Tatyoon defeated Lismore Derrinallum 27-5. Best: Kyro Johnson.

13 and under –Tatyoon defeated Lismore Derrinallum 20-19. Best player: Maddison Fisher.
