Darcy shines at Cobden
CARMEL Darcy had a good day out on the greens last week, winning the May monthly medal at Cobden Golf Club.
Darcy finished on 92-24-68 points to take out both the medal and the silver spoon.
The runner-up was Pat Tickner on 73 points while Deb Rix won the putting with 28 putts.
Nearest the pins: A grade – 10th Sherine Healey; C grade – 4th and 10th Ev Boyd; gents – 10th Ulbe Twynstra.
Nearest the pins: 7th Jeannine White.
Balls down the line: Deb Rix 75, Ellen Darcy, Deb Ferrari and Ulbe Twynstra 77.
The Barrett Shield winners were Carmel Darcy and Pat Tickner on 209 nett.
Last Saturday’s round one of the winter cup (par) attracted 33 players to the course.
A grade was won by C. Horan on +3, followed by G. Birnie square on countback from A. Giles (also square).
B grade went to D. Brown on +3, with J. Simmonds the runner-up on +2 on countback from K. Duffin +2.
Nearest the pins: 4th D. Absalom, 7th J. Walker, 10th P. Irvine, closest second on the 2nd N. Simmonds and closest on the 14th J. Walker.
The privilege pot went to C. Horan on +3.
Balls down the line: K. Duffin, B. Bourke, A. Giles, A. Stevens and L. Finney.
Lachie Green eagled the par five, 15th hole.
This Saturday, May 17, will be the Barrett Shield versus Timboon at Timboon.
Players should book in on the usual Cobden booking site by Friday (May 16).
