Community project honours veterans
THE Cobden community came together on Friday to honour war veterans buried at the Cobden Cemetery.

THE Cobden community came together on Friday to honour war veterans buried at the Cobden Cemetery.
Seventy war veterans’ final resting places were recognised during the initiative which saw Australian flags temporarily placed
beside graves.
The number of veterans recognised in this year’s service was up from 37 in the inaugural year of the initiative in 2021.
The project, which culminated with a community ceremony at the cemetery, was a joint effort of the Cobden Technical School, Cobden Primary School and Cobden
Cemetery Trust.
Cobden Technical School building community co-ordinator Andrea Stoddart described the day as “amazing”.
“I was blown away with how it went,” she said.
“It was the first time we had the Cobden Primary School there.
“They (the students) were so excited for the poppies, they embraced the day and got a lot out of it.”
Ms Stoddart said the day was a positive experience for the community.
“Overall, I thought it was even better than last year,” she said.
“It was great for the community to all come together.
“I’m really proud of our community in ensuring this generation are learning about and respecting veterans who have served this country.”
