Cinderella success for Mercy
ANOTHER successful Mercy Regional College (MRC) production of Cinderella was held last week at the Theatre Royal.

Across the season, 520 seats were sold, with additional primary and secondary groups viewing the two open dress rehearsals.
Director Toby McKenzie said he was thrilled with the outstanding commitment and support shown.
“I sincerely thank the huge team of MRC students, staff, parents, alumni and friends that came together to produce this experience for our community,” he said.
“It was a true show of teamwork, dedication and resilience over many months, culminating in an exciting season at the theatre.
“Our young performers, creatives and technicians really rose to the challenge.
“Thank you also to the team at the Corangamite Shire who supported the production at the theatre in the final days.”
The production directly involved 39 students from across the district in the cast and theatre crew, plus several classes including VET Furnishing, VET Building and Construction, VET Hospitality, VCE-VM Work Related Skills and VCE-VM Personal Development Skills students involved in set construction and making items for the canteen.
MRC principal Sharon Gillett acknowledged the tremendous effort involved.
“The show was brilliant and we are lucky to be able to offer this wonderful experience to our students,” she said.
“Well done to the production team, cast, crew and all behind the scenes on another terrific effort and thank you to the community for supporting us.”
Mercy Regional College has presented a theatre production every two years since 2013, with occasional productions in years prior.
Being involved offers students the opportunity to embrace and hone skills in the performing arts as part of a team environment.
